LED VS HPS, Which is Better

As we all know, LED lights can save much electricity costs and decrease heat production in the grow room. 

Let us to talk more standards to compare those two technology.

Upfront investment cost

It is no doubt that HPS technology is cheaper than LED lights.Usually 1000W HPS takes you below US$300.

If you are just start your business and have a strict budget, you could choose HPS as the best choice. But LED lights will save more money if you will use them for many years. When you spend less cost to pay HPS, but it means more electricity costs.

Energy efficiency

LED lights can produce more 40% efficiency than cheaper HPS lights.

Meanwhile, LED grow lights produce less heat; that means you can save on fans as well.

Spectrum 

HPS grow lights are suitable for flower stage since the major light is red light.

But LED light have a full spectrum for both clone & veg & flower stage on many lighting fixtures. Besides, LED grow lights accept customized spectrum to meet your needs, importantly including IR & UV lights.
