FAQ:

How to use spectrum to promote growth?

icon slide2

The focus on specific colors of the light spectrum strongly influences the growth and development of the plant. Producing light in the Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) spectrum allows for the most efficiency without wasting energy not used in photosynthesis. Targeting the blue and red portions of the PAR region maximize light absorption efficiency resulting in increased growth, flowering and yield.

How long will my led grow light last?

LED grow lights last an average of 50,000 hours while reducing energy costs and maintenance costs due to frequently changing rapidly degrading traditional lamps. We warranty these fixtures for a full 5-years from date of purchase.

What is PAR and how does it effect the growth of my plant?

icon slide2

Photosynthetically active radiation, often abbreviated PAR, designates the spectral range (wave band) of solar radiation from 400 to 700 nanometers that photosynthetic organisms are able to use in the process of photosynthesis. This spectral region corresponds more or less with the range of light visible to the human eye. Photons at shorter wavelengths tend to be so energetic that they can be damaging to cells and tissues, but are mostly filtered out by the ozone layer in the stratosphere. Photons at longer wavelengths do not carry enough energy to allow photosynthesis to take place. (credit: Wikipedia)The growth of a plant is strongly determined by the total number of photons that it absorbs in the Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) region. In certain parts of the world, seasonally, or in plant production facilities, an adequate amount of PAR is necessary to maximize growth, flowering and fruiting.

Does the daily length of light effect the fruiting cycle?

icon slide2

With many plants, the time of flowering is influenced by the photoperiod or length of day. For example, a chrysanthemum plant will only bloom when the day is shorter and night is long. We call them "short day" plants. However when you apply a long day photoperiod to them, the flowering will be suppressed. The opposite is true for plants considered to be "long day" plants.

What are the advantages of switching to LED grow lighting?

icon slide2

Technology is always changing and getting better. LEDs have the ability to digitally control spectrum and create the optimal growing environment for plants. The main reason for making the switch include:
LED grow lights use less energy than traditional grow lights.
LEDs last much longer than other types of grow lights. Their solid state construction contains no harmful chemicals or vacuums.
LED grow lights generate much less heat than traditional lighting making it easier to control the environment.

Why is light uniformity important for consistent crop yield?

icon slide2

Uniformity of the light spectrum is very important for constant quality of crop production. Consistent and maximum crop yields are accomplished when lighting is provided in the most uniform way. Optics in our LED solutions provide an easy and flexible way to achieve uniform light distribution to your crop.

What is the typical energy savings with LED grow lights over HPS?

icon slide2

Energy Savings LED grow lighting saves up to 40% compared to traditional sources such as High Pressure Sodium (HPS), Metal Halide and fluorescents.

How far should I place my LED grow lights from the canopy of my plant?

icon slide2

Many factors can determine the optimal height of the LED grow light about the plants canopy. Some factors include: plant species, stage of life-cycle, wattage, beam angle and coverage to name a few. As a general rule of thumb, 24-36 inches above the plants canopy is ideal most plant types. Contact us for specific information on your crop.
